My Experience Attending a Texas Rangers Game at Globe Life Field

Story #250: My Experience at The Ballpark in Arlington | Unbalanced

Fast forward to 2026, I had what was arguably the best summer vacation I've ever went on. Last month, I took my third trip this year to Arlington. This time, however, marked a special milestone for yours truly. I was in town to attend the Rangers game against the Angels. I wore my red City Connect jersey and hat, because Globe Life Field has held a City Connect night every Friday night home game since the Rangers new uniforms were released back in late April. They debuted their new digs for a three-game series against the Athletics. For context, the temperature down in Arlington was 106 degrees. Yeah, you're hearing that right. I settled in my motel room for a while to cool off and was preparing to head to the game. GLF was over a couple of miles from my motel room and made the near hour walk there. Keep in mind that I had to stop at a convenience store to get something to drink. I had to keep myself hydrated as I was on my way to the game. The Texas heat is no joke, especially when it's in the triple digits.

I finally arrived at Globe Life Field a quarter after six, because the game didn't begin for another hour. Once I got my ticket scanned, I started to walk around and all of a sudden, there were people in line to pose with the World Series trophy. Back in February, I took a vacation to Arlington for the first time in nearly 15 years. I missed my hometown so much and glad that I was finally back to a familiar place. I spent two days down there and on the final day of my trip, I took part in a premium stadium tour at GLF. It started at 10 in the morning and lasted an hour and a half. We got to see plenty of Rangers artifacts, especially from their 2023 Postseason and World Series runs, artwork, and we also got a chance to be on the field. The one item we didn't get to see during the tour was the World Series trophy, which the Rangers won back in 2023 and also, it was their first in franchise history. Our tour guide didn't give a reason why, but nevertheless, I had a wonderful time. Several months later, I was in line to pose with the World Series trophy. It was a dream come true and knocked an item off my bucket list. After doing that, I went to buy a waffle ice cream cone. It was my first time purchasing anything from a concession stand at a sporting event. Unfortunately, by the time I found my seat, most of my ice cream had already melted. I ate a few bites when the ice cream started to drip on the floor. I didn't finish it, but it was still delicious.

The Rangers went against the Angels, where MacKenzie Gore made the start. The roof was closed due to the scorching temperatures outside. It was for the best and inside of Globe Life Field felt a bit cooler. I was fully invested in the game, and it was nothing but positive vibes that night. The game went into extra innings. Thanks to an error from Angels Denzer Guzman, Wyatt Langford hit an RBI double, tying the game at one. He would go on to score the winning run. The final score was 2-1. Gore and Reid Detmers, the starter for the Angels that evening, were engaged in a pitcher's duel. Even though Gore had to settle for a no-decision, I still had the time of my life. The mood at GLF and outside of it was lively. Experiencing the Rangers winning a game at Globe Life Field via a winning run as an adult was nothing but amazing. My advice to out of towners visiting Globe Life Field to see their own teams play against the Rangers is to get to the ballpark as early as possible. If you do see the World Series trophy, go ahead and pose next to it. Us Rangers fans are very friendly and welcoming. We wish not to be one of those toxic fanbases like the Yankees or Dodgers. As long as you're good to us, you're in our good graces. Keep in mind that we absolutely hate the Houston Astros and their fans. They're more than welcome to come to GLF and support their own team, but we prefer to display our heavy disdain of them in our heads and from a distance. You'll love Globe Life Field and also, schedule a tour of the ballpark if you can. It'll be worth the time and money. Me attending Rangers games at two different ballparks 25 years apart is something I'll treasure for the rest of my life.
