Hello there, fellow explorers! My name is Julygwynet, and I'm a nomad in my thirties with an insatiable desire to travel the world. My voyage has been a tapestry of varied experiences, ranging from the lovely countryside of Vietnam to enticing destinations throughout the world. Join me as I tell you about my most recent expedition, a month-long journey into the heart of Ha Giang. In this story, I share the top five experiences that left an unforgettable impact on my soul in Vietnam's northern regions.

When arriving in Ha Giang, the iconic check-in points are the Lung Cu flagpole and the Northernmost Point. It's worth noting that the "Northernmost Point of the Fatherland" was dedicated in August 2018, 2.5 kilometers from the Lung Cu flagpole. According to Hà Giang's local news, the genuine Northernmost Point of Vietnam is a rocky protrusion on the bank of the Nho Que River, 3.3 kilometers away.

The Lung Cu flagpole and the Northernmost Point are must-see destinations in Ha Giang due to their geographical and historical significance. These locations highlight the rich cultural and historical significance that visitors should not miss while seeing this beautiful region.

Aside from these locations, you can photograph wonderful moments at the Lolo Chai traditional village, which is around 1 kilometer from the Lung Cu flagpole. Walking around the settlement, you will notice historic architecture set against stunning rocky terrains.

Hiking to the panoramic view of Lung Cu Pagoda, known as the "Gate of Heaven," 1.5 km from the town center, is worthwhile if time allows. The altitude elevation provides amazing views of broad alpine vistas, which are especially beautiful during the ripe rice or buckwheat bloom season (October, November).

Every Friday, there is a local market near the flagpole area where you may enjoy the active life of the Lolo and Mong ethnic communities. Traditional remedies, colorful fabrics, and numerous street snacks such as grilled rice cakes, sweet potato cakes, and fried buns are available at the market. Each dish ranges in price from 2,000 to 10,000 VND.

If you visit during the Lolo people's traditional holidays, you may be able to see their celebrations and weddings. Traditional Lolo celebrations include ancestor worship, celebration of the new rice crop, and worship of forest deities.

Don't miss out on exploring the old trinh tuong houses in Lung Cu, which feature unique architecture. Many homestays still adhere to this architectural style, providing visitors with a night in a cool, calm setting with the soothing sounds of birds in the morning.

Lung Cu, in addition to prominent sights, offers unique native delicacies. Dau chua is a delicious and healthful dish made from a concentrated soybean broth simmered with vegetables. Mèn mén, a daily staple of the Mong people, is produced from cornflour using a unique formula. For a distinctive flavor, try it with soup. The third dish is bánh đa, which is produced from sticky rice flour and is used for frying, soup, or hotpot. You can sample these delights by visiting local eateries (which must be pre-arranged), purchasing from street vendors, or exploring the local markets.

As a traveler who is passionate about exploration and discovery, I have worked hard to share these priceless experiences with you. I hope that my record will inspire people to embark on their own trips, find the hidden jewels of many nations, and enjoy the diversity that our globe has to offer.

So, whether you're looking for stunning scenery, one-of-a-kind cultural experiences, or wonderful local cuisine, Lung Cu is unquestionably a place that promises a variety of interesting adventures. Join me as I explore the beauty and richness of this region of Vietnam, which has left an unforgettable impact on my heart and, maybe, will do the same for you.
