7 Ways You Can Stand Against Rape Culture
Rape culture is a term used to describe a society that normalizes and perpetuates the idea that sexual violence is inevitable. It creates an environment in which victims of rape are told they should have done more to prevent it. Rape culture is so ingrained in our society, it can feel impossible to stand up against it. But there are many ways you can start today. Here are some simple, yet powerful, ways you can make an impact in your community and help create a culture where rape isn't tolerated.

Internalisation of what was the concept of the black person through 'The Man's' ideas in times of slavery and deadly racism, has, thus far, been the most successful tool of colonialism and continues to bear fruit and sustain the shadow of authority our oppressors once had over us. In too many ways, does this authority still mandate how we live, perceive and love.

Prepare The Black Child
I am not a social person, I like to keep to myself. That was before I became a mother. I could say that being a mother has made me want to make a change in the community that I belong. Before, I would see a lot of injustice and inhumanity displayed every day on the street, on social media and by the police who are meant to protect the people and every time, I would internally express my displeasure but always, I would keep moving on without doing anything to change the situation. I didn’t believe I had what it took to make any change that would affect the situation.

The prevalent word for the year 2021 should be selflessness. The year kicked off from the ashes of 2020 with aspirations to be a better year. It has achieved that when compared with the previous year. In terms of the economy, the pandemic, global health, and the environment.

Rape culture is a brutal and everyday sort of thing. It surrounds us and it permeates the air that I breathe. Rape culture sits on the phrase "He hits you because he likes you" that we teach schoolgirls that leads to them thinking that hitting is liking. Rape culture is telling a woman it's her job to say no. It's her job to say no over, and over, and over, and over again. While telling a man that it's his job to want it, to say yes. Even when he doesn't. Rape culture is women in undervalued and underpaid positions sleeping with men who have power, trying to claw their way to the top just to someday get enough air to breathe. Rape culture is a man whistling as a woman walks by, immediately reminding her what he values her for. Rape culture is a group of boys assigning girls a score out of ten and her hearing it and wanting to prove them wrong and signing up for something she didn't want. Rape culture doesn't stop at a man in a dark alley taking something that doesn't belong to him. Rape culture doesn't start at man and woman in private ways. It doesn't start at men disfiguring women who are threats. Or women who aren't threats. It starts with people undervaluing people as people. It starts with human beings forgetting that human beings are sacred.
Fighting against Discrimination
My story starts off with a brief look at an unknown industry: taxis or vehicle for hire. Lately names like Uber and Lyft pop up in the media only to explain that the old fashion metered services are suffering from a loss of customers. While there is a good reason that a new app based on cell phone services rocketed the taxis into lower demands. Uber reflects the need of newer vehicles and safer drivers who can be monitored by corporate fat cats. Unfortunately, its just another vice against fair and equal rights that hits those on either side of the industry who are not inside the norm.

Black girls aren’t receiving equal love or support from society as white girls of the same age. Society tends to have bad views or ideas on black, such as black girls don’t need as much nurturing, that we know more about sex or adult topics, that we don’t need as much love, we need less support, less protection, and are more independent. None of these are true, black girls need the same amount of love, support, protection, and nurturing as all other races. We aren’t more independent, and we don’t know more about sex or adult topics than any other races. The problem gets even worse when people in a power position have these views.

When I was in the seventh grade, the hit television series Pretty Little Liars starring Lucy Hale and Shay Mitchell finally made its grand debut on Netflix. The older girls at my school had been raving about the books by Sara Shepard for years, so we were excited to see what all the hype was about.

Never Underestimate the Power of a Woman’s Voice.
What makes a woman’s voice sound empowered and less like a typical “Karen” wanting to speak with the manager? I’ve been getting in trouble lately with my teenage son for emailing his teachers and administrators, even his basketball coach and director for things I am noticing that don’t sit well with me.
Melissa SteussyPublished 2 years ago in Viva Why Banning Abortion is Unconstitutional
In the face of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, otherwise known as the Mississippi abortion ban case, pro-choice advocates all across the nation have doubled down on their arguments for protecting the right to a safe abortion. A myriad of strong, valid arguments have been presented, with everything from protecting bodily autonomy to a fair question of when life truly begins. Unfortunately, though, it seems that many of these arguments fail to truly reach the ears of the other side, the side calling for an end to Roe v. Wade. However, one thing that both sides of the aisle value greatly is the Constitution, which grants American citizens the rights we hold so dear. Neither side wants to see an unconstitutional bill turn into a law because no one wants their rights to be violated and disregarded. The thing with abortion bans, though, is that they do directly violate the Constitution and some of America’s founding principles. Here’s just a few ways in which they do so.

The Venus Effect
Our world has been turned upside down in the last 20 months or so, in no uncertain terms. We have been blindsided by unexpected events, and felt more collective fear and disempowerment than we have in a long long time. Perhaps in our entire lives. It has not been easy, nor gentle, for we’ve been swept up in a maelstrom of angst in unprecedented ways. And yet, with all the death, destruction and confusion; with all the unceremonious stripping away of dignity, autonomy and deeply held value systems…. something deep in our hearts and souls is galvanizing, even as the body and mind takes shelter.
