A look at women's basketball talents

College basketball is in off-season mode but that doesn't mean we can't look back at the talent that made the 2021-22 season a success. Let's check out some of the women that you may or may not know but should on the hardcourt.

Maddy Siegrist - Villanova

The second leading scorer in the NCAA, Maddy Siegrist averaged 25.3 points per game while leading Villanova to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Siegrist had nine games with 30 points or more. She scored her season high of 42 points in an overtime win against Marquette. The 6-1 forward from Poughkeepsie, New York shot 56 percent from the field and shot a perfect 12-12 from the free-throw line She also pulled down 13 rebounds that game. From Jan. 23 to Feb. 13, Siegrist scored 30 points or more in seven out of eight games. She also posted 12 double-doubles. One of which was a 17-point, 12-rebound effort where her team ended UConn's nine-year 169-game win streak in the Big East. Her final double-double of the season came when she scored 24 points with 14 rebounds against Seton Hall a semifinal win in the Big East Tournament. Siegrist lifted Villanova to a win in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament over BYU with 25 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. In her first three seasons Siegrist has scored 1,815 points and grabbed 761 rebounds in 82 games.

Rebeka Mikulasikova - Ohio State

Rebeka Mikulasikova is a 6-4 forward at Ohio State from Nitra, Slovakia. She started all 32 games that she played for the Buckeyes last season with averages of 9.4 points and five rebounds per game. Mikulasikova had a strong start offensively, posting 19 points in three of her first five games of the year. She posted three double-doubles during the season, including a 16-point, 12-rebound outing against Northwestern. In a second-round NCAA Tournament win over LSU, Mikulasikova scored 12 points shooting 5-9 from the field. Over her first three seasons which covers 76 games, Mikulasikova has been a dependable free-throw shooter as a frontcourt performer. She has shot 79.4 percent from the free-throw line during her career.

Miquela Santoro - Milwaukee

A 5-7 guard from Clarksville, Ohio, Miquela Santoro had her most productive season in her collegiate career. After three seasons at Winthrop, she played her last two years at Milwaukee. Santoro averaged a career best 7.4 points per game starting in all 29 of her appearances. Santoro's biggest moments of the season include a 19-point performance in an upset win against Big Ten and in-state foe Wisconsin. She shot 61 percent in that contest while dishing out four assists and collecting three steals. Santoro matched her season scoring high with 19 points in a win over Wright State. She shot 61.5 percent in that contest including 3-6 from three-point territory. In a late season victory against Illinois-Chicago Santoro shot a perfect 5-5 from the field, scoring 12 points.

Ronni Williams - Mississippi Valley State

Ronni Williams was a full-time starter for the first time of her four-year career at Mississippi Valley State. She posted career best averages of 5.2 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Williams started all 25 of her appearances. The 5-6 native of Memphis, Tennessee, recorded three or more steals on 11 occasions. She swiped a season high seven steals against Prairie View. She also had nine assists and six rebounds with five points in that contest. Williams nearly recorded a triple-double when she had 18 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and four steals against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Williams opened the season with a 12-point effort against Ole Miss. Her average of 5.2 assists was 37th in the NCAA.
