We Have Just Crossed Over Into The Twilight Zone

When Rod Sterling began each episode with "You unlock this door with a key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension. A dimension of sound. A dimension of sight. A dimension of mind. You are moving in a land of shadow and substance of things and ideas. You have just crossed over into the twilight zone," little did he realize that today we have the whole world in turmoil. More government reactions have only compounded the anxiety of millions, and societies are swept up in currents of unrest and tension. All of this has resulted in that millions are now feeling like they have literally crossed over into the "Twilight Zone."

When we take a closer look at that door in each episode it could be, in today's world, the door to lost opportunities, failed governmental policies, and an escalation of man's inhumanity to man and nature. The recent responses in Great Britain and France in countering the global financial crisis every have shown that citizen has felt the realities that life for them will be forever changed. Again, like "they have crossed over into the Twilight Zone." In so many other countries that are trying to cope with the harsh realities of today most of humanity is affected in some adverse way or another. Not only in Europe, the United States population is precariously close to sliding into an abyss of economic and social upheaval that if the policies don't drastically change most of our population will "cross over into the Twilight Zone" of diminished opportunities.

Unlocking that door has already happened. The keys are in the imagination of governments, financial institutions and the rest of the corporate world. Policies that are supposed to ease and eventually eliminate the economic and social unrest that actually was brought on by these same institutions is like using bank robbers to guard banks. Some imagination! Today the vast dispassionate of wealth continues to widen leaving societies so unbalanced the economic decay that has already begun will not only continue but become much worse.

All of the current policies are really forcing populations to move into another world. A world so foreign to the one of the past. A world of shadow of substance and authentic ideas as to how to actually solve the world's most acute crisis, where a complete lack of ideas and substance coming from governments in their attempt to alter the course of nations only brings each nation closer to the fate of the "Titanic."

This is most apparent here in the United States. The vast gap between the majority of impoverished and few wealthiest individuals, the current policies of trade and commerce, and all of the other governmental mandates have constituted the largest domino effect in economic retardation in our nation's history. It is no wonder that so many impoverished are actually crossing over into the Twilight Zone. The world os now filled with very little chance of escaping the harsh reality of a betrayal of a government that was supposed to protect and secure a promise of a better future for everyone.

Will populations cross back from the Twilight Zone of lost opportunities? That remains very elusive. So far the evidence of real change is nowhere to be found. Only accusations amid rhetoric about using different variations of the same policies that for years accumulated the fraudulent business practices and failed governmental policies that brought about the greatest escalation in global turmoil since before World War II. This is what is currently being discussed and offered by the same government and failed financial institutions. What is not happening is a real authentic discussion using the lessons that history has taught us in outlining the strategies that has worked in past situations to use in incorporating for solving today's crisis.

Until a discussion and implementation of relevant policies that deal directly with ending the enormous influx of millions of people being forced into "crossing over into the Twilight Zone" of lost opportunities, more people will suffer this same fate. A new reality of impoverished populations will systematically sweep across the globe rendering nations defenseless against the onslaught of policies that continually undermine the economic and social core of nations.
