Trump’s Second Term

As we all know by now Donald J Trump is the President. He ran a very controversial campaign and a lot of people including high-level politicians from both political parties said he would never win, which he quickly proved to be wrong. We all knew Trump for being a businessman who had some past failures, but who hasn’t made mistakes in their past? He even went into detail on how bad his failures were in his book, The Art of The Deal, on his former tv show The Apprentice and in several interviews. Whenever people bring up Trump's failures you have to keep in mind that six “bankruptcies” out of 515 investments and businesses isn’t a failure of a businessman. That’s like saying a basketball player who shot 515 baskets and missed six isn’t a star player. Whether you love him or hate him you are reaping the benefits from this great economy and it’s easier than ever to find a good high paying job with benefits.

As of June 4, 2019, Trump has only been in office for 2 Years and 134 days but he has already defeated ISIS, passed historic tax cuts, given us an unemployment rate that is at a 17 year low, removed job-killing regulations, and much more. When he was on the campaign trail his critics were positive that he would send this country into an economic recession but the opposite ended up happening. I could understand people’s fear if he had no experience running a successful company or was just another career politician but were talking about a man who has built multiple successful companies which have earned him Billions.

During income tax season millions of people from all political parties were upset that they didn’t receive the normal amount that they usually receive which made #GOPTaxScam trend on Twitter for weeks. Since the tax bill was new people didn’t realize that they would be receiving more money on their paychecks which meant they would receive less at the end of the year.

While that was happening the government was just opening back up after it had been shut down from December 22, 2018, to January 25, 2019, which is also the longest shutdown in history. The shutdown was mainly over border security. President Trump wants people to come into the country legally that way we can give them a background check. The process of background checks are similar to getting a job, a company isn’t just going to let you come in without checking your background first. Some have gotten confused about the differences between being pro-background checks, also known as legal immigration, with being anti-immigration. The truth is America is the most open country around, try going to Mexico illegally you’ll get sent to jail for up to two years because there it’s a felony to cross their border illegally.

No matter what your political party is, it’s common sense to not let people that you know nothing about invade your country. Millions of people have lost their lives because of murderers and drug dealers who got into this country illegally without any type of background check.

The ironic part is there are politicians who swear that we don’t need a wall but when you look at their house you see a nice big wall surrounding it. It’s the same with the gun control argument; Politicians swear that gun control will make all the shootings magically go away but when you look at statistics and facts you see a different story.
