Texas Lifted the Mask Mandate

Only Our Government Can "Mess With Texas"

The motto for the state of Texas is, "Don't Mess With Texas". Though that motto was derived from a need to stop littering on highways, people attribute it to anything and everything these days. In 2021, Texas has proven that there is no need for anyone to "mess with Texas". Our government is capable of doing all the messing with Texas we can handle. Today Abbott lifted the ban on masks.

Abbott is the same guy who advocated and still defends the deregulation of electricity in the state of Texas. At the time it was spouted as being a god send. That meant network marketing companies could come in and sell utilities. That meant more money in the pockets of greedy people. Little did we know at the time that would also mean death to innocent people.

You see our infrastructure in Texas wasn't built to handle extreme weather conditions. Deregulation proved to be detrimental when a winter storm passed through our big state and completely devastated us. The lack of planning and leadership that we have here in Texas proved to be detrimental. Our state along with a few other Southern states shutdown for a week.

On February 11th we saw how there was no need for anyone else to mess with Texas. We were our own worst enemy. You see that day, we lost 6 lives due to negligence on the part of our government. Roads and highways weren't treated and it cost lives on Interstate 35W when there was a 133 vehicle pileup. The highway was a skating rink and no one could stop. Video showed cars and 18 wheelers one by one slamming into others.

It was hard to watch and so uncalled for. People didn't return home because our government couldn't be bothered to be prepared. As a Texas Tech alum, we all grieved the passing of one of our own in that accident. We watched as a couple came to pick their son up who managed to crawl out of his trunk. There were countless others who had loved ones pick them up off the side of the highway. There were nurses who still went to work that day because they knew that they still had to fight Covid and the over abundance of patients.

Covid has been like a tornado through our country. But Texans, oh you selfish selfish Texans, have always been on the wrong side of this. We are after all a red state so that speaks volumes. To top that off we have people like Cruz and Abbott "leading" the way. We were doomed from the start.

People care more about getting haircuts and eating out then their fellow human beings. They can't wait to get back to Sunday Funday and enjoy mimosas again at brunch. Let's not forget Shelley Luther who opened her hair salon up in the beginning of quarantine last year. Texans are notorious for only worrying about themselves and money.

Texas has been one of the states leading the way in Covid cases and deaths. At the time of this writing, Texas has had over 2.6 million cases of Covid and 44,353 deaths. And that number will continue to climb due to Abbott's infinite "wisdom" and sheer lack of leadership skills.

My dad, like countless others, died last year due to Covid fear. He didn't have Covid but he had heart attack symptoms that he chose to ignore out of fear of Covid. Yes that was a thing last year. My dad wasn't the only one to suffer this exact fate.

So I say, shame on you Abbott for your lack of a spine. You have zero leadership skills and that shows in everything that you do or don't do. Cruz you should have stayed in Cancun you are nothing but a complete and utter waste of a person. Texas deserves better but sadly most people lack the spine and live by the 'party over people' phenomenon that has run rampant in this country. Today was a sad day for Texas. Let's hope we survive.
