Nefarious DarriusPublished 11 months ago in The SwampThe Double Standard in K-Pop: It's Worse Than You Think.
Hello everyone, I take it you are familiar with Korean pop music or have encountered it in some way. Korean music has reached the mainstream media within the last few years, and with that, more and more things are surfacing, these things include how the idols are really treated, and yes, the double standard is becoming more obvious as the music gains more of a following from all over the world. The double standard is a terrible but real thing that impacts female idols in particular. Women in Korean pop have been stigmatized for many reasons, and it's just downright cruel, especially when there is a male idol out there doing the exact same thing and going unscathed. Let's discuss some of these instances.

The Cost of Living: Assisted Suicide and Poverty in North America
The idea of medically assisted death is not new in North America. Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the infamous “Dr. Death,” thrust the concept of physician-assisted suicide into the public consciousness in the 1990s (Filc et al., 2019). Kevorkian’s homemade “Mercitron” machine, used to end the lives of willing patients, made him both a pariah and a pioneer. His actions ignited fierce debates about the ethics of euthanasia and the right to a dignified death.

January 20th (San Juan, Puerto Rico) – Since the time of Christopher Columbus, the island-territory now known as Puerto Rico has never been independent and free. For hundreds of years, it remained a Spanish colony until the United States “liberated” it in 1898. After that, it endured as a territory of the United States federal government despite multiple attempts to change the status quo in any number of ways. Yet, perhaps it is different this time and Puerto Rico really will finally become a State, or sail off as its own sovereign nation.
The Issue with Dylan Mulvaney: Controversy and Their Representation of What a Woman is.
Hello out there! Before I start, today's topic is a bit more on the opinion side of the bend. This article is going to be based on my opinion, but I of course will offer evidence and an explanation as to why I have a particular opinion on a subject matter. It helps both you and I better understand the subject, and it can help you to help understand my perspective. So, to put it briefly, if you do not want to hear my opinion or are easily offended, I wouldn't recommend reading further. But as I always say when it comes to articles like this, you make the decision whether or not to read further. Either way, enjoy the article, and we'll get right to it.
Why is Gun Violence Becoming the Norm in the U.S.?
Hello everybody, I should let you know before we start, this topic may be upsetting to some readers. This topic has a major focus on gun violence, which sticks to the United States like an unshakeable plague and jeopardizes the safety of innocent children and adults alike. I am an inhabitant of the so called 'land of the free, home of the brave,' but this statement just hides the horrors of being a U.S. citizen. Gun violence is becoming normal and has been increasing since 2019. This always made me wonder, why is this happening? Why do these people, who aren't in their right mind, have access to guns? Only a sick person would walk into a school and make a conscious decision to end the lives of young children.
After Bulldozing Internationalism, President Announces "New Manifest Destiny"
January 20th (Cape Alava, WA) – Manifest Destiny. These two words elicit a strong response in the American psyche. Depending upon the person, this may bring feelings of exceptionalism; that the United States had—perhaps through divine providence—a mission to spread democratic ideals from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific, and to keep European empires out of these lands. For those people already living in the path of the expansionists, it was seen as a racist landgrab that displaced and killed millions, paving the way for a uniquely American territorial empire that denied freedoms to most and is still in existence today.
