A dark day in democracy
In the middle of the 21st century, there are stories of a sultan's mercenaries breaking into a palace in the middle of the night to kill the sultan and name the new sultan in the morning.

So much hate in the country I call home right now. The country divided now more then it has been in years. And why? That is the big question. But I have several other questions.
Stefanie Daby-PabinsPublished 3 years ago in The SwampWhy Are The Republicans Trying to Blame Antifa(Again)?
We all know what happened on January 6th. I don't feel like I need to lay it all out for you for the billionth time. But I definitely want to, so... On January 6th, the day after Georgia's special election and the day of Congress' certification of Joe Biden's presidential win, hundreds or thousands of Donald Trump's supporters gathered in Washington DC to protest Trump's loss. The Capitol police opened the doors for the protesters, and they quickly rioted and invaded the Capitol Building. Congress evacuated to safety, but the insurrectionists broke into their offices, their gathering spaces, and went wild. At least five died, including two cops, and on that day, maybe 13 arrests were made, although a few more were made in the following days.

No dictator in the history of the world likes to be criticized. Then let him be the offspring of the ruling left 'revolution'; Be it a military fighter or an arrears of democracy by winning elections.
Yogesh SawantPublished 3 years ago in The SwampSanitizing Our Politics: People Over 60 Should Not Vote!
In terms of percentages, senior citizens are more committed to voting than youthful citizens. The main reason for this is because old people feel attached to their neighborhoods and country due to their long (mostly permanent) duration of residence. They are true patriots- we have to give them that! But besides wanting “what is best” for the country and humanity as a whole, most old people are also less educated, mentally unstable, and completely out of touch with the modern and future worlds. Their political views are mostly idiosyncratic and their take on morality is totally offensive to younger, productive generations. We cannot trust people who don’t exactly understand the social context of the modern world to decide “what is best” for us.

Two years before his death, Martin Luther King wrote a book titled, Where Do We Go From Here, Chaos Or Community. In this intriguing work, Dr. King expressed great sadness that after more than a decade of the Civil Rights Movement, blacks were worse off than they were 10 years before. The plight of Black America today would have left him mortified.
Christine SimpsonPublished 3 years ago in The SwampHow the Arabs Made the Slave Trade Worse
Over the years, the worldwide discourse on slavery was solely focused on the trans-Atlantic slave trade and the wrongdoings of American and European slave merchants. One alternative slavery tradition remains mostly unnoticed and is even treated as a taboo although it absolutely was a key part of African history and had a large impact on the continent.
ElMehdi ElAzharyPublished 3 years ago in The SwampIt’s a Dangerous Precedent to Ban a Dangerous President
As you know, on Wednesday 6 January, a mob of pro-Trump supporters invaded the US Capitol building in Washington DC, angry about the alleged (and highly contested) "election fraud" as Congress moved to certify Joe Biden’s victory in the November ‘20 election. [1]
Jamie JacksonPublished 3 years ago in The SwampObama was a true gentleman
Donald J Trump spent practically the entirety of Barak Obama’s presidency pushing the lie that the first man of color to lead the free world was not born in the United States. To this day there are Trump supporters who say that Obama is a Muslim and was not qualified for the highest office in the land. Barak Obama was born in Hawaii and even if he were Muslim, religious beliefs should have no bearing on the ability to carry out the job of president. In spite of the constant barrage of attacks coming from the man who succeeded him, Obama remained a gentleman.
Cheryl E PrestonPublished 3 years ago in The SwampBritain and the 'Good Savage'
It is well documented that Britain does not have a good history with diversity. When I say 'history', I do not mean five or ten years' ago, I mean actual history. Imperialist Britain saw the rise of the Empire and then, the eventual fall. But the strength of the civil vs. savage argument is still there. The point of the Victorian stance was that if the British army went over to these particular countries (Asia, Africa etc.) they would be able to civilise the savages. Since then, there has been discussion of whether this is still going on without explicit movement. This rhetoric of what a 'good' immigrant is whether they be first, second or even third generation - some of the white-British make it clear that though you were born here you will never be one of them.

The United States of America is no longer what it used to be and it will continue to get worse if they don’t stop worrying about their neighbors instead of taking care of themselves.
