Civil Service Exams for those who want to run

I don't have to tell you all how fed up I am with morons like Marjorie Taylor Greene, high school dropouts like Lauren Boebert, idiots like Donald Trump or any other moron like them are able to run for office, let alone be able to hold office.

Americans like me are tired of such stupid people being able to hold office, while smart people like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi and even our nation's legitimate President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris, are treated as radicals who are threatening to undermine the nation.

The stupidity needs to stop and being smart needs to be brought into politics.

That is what this post I am writing is about.

The Civil Service Exams in China

While the Qin Dynasty (221-207 BCE) created a bureaucratic system of governing as suggested by local officials, it would not be until the dynasty's successor, the Han Dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE) during the reign of Emperor Wudi (reigned 141 BCE-87 BCE) established the first Imperial university to train students in Confucian governing.

The Sui Dynasty (581-618 CE) promoted it even further by introducing the rule that officials must be appointed by the central government rather than local aristocrats.

The Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE) created local schools so that more scholars could pursue their studies.

The Imperial examination system has gone through many changes until it was abolished in 1905 CE during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911/12 CE). (1)

The reason I bring up the outdated, yet effective Imperial Examination system of China is because it also got me thinking about the Civil Service exams we have for Police, Firefighters, Paramedics, Lawyers and many other civil servants in today's society and it got me thinking again about how politicians are serving in office today and how many of them are clearly not fit for office of any kind, let alone being Presidental material.

This is where my idea for exams to hold office come in.

Disclaimer

What I am proposing in this article is merely promoting ideas in politics and philosophical concepts. I don't expect my ideas in this article to be put into use anytime soon. Everything here is just thought, nothing more.

The test itself-What's on it

The tests that would be taken would cover subjects consisting of:

US History (Before, During and after the American War of Independence)

The Constitution

The Bill of Rights

Civil Liberties/Human Rights

National Security Policies

Supreme Court Rulings

International Relations/Policies

Elections and the process

The various political parties in America

Current Events

The test itself-Quiz and Essay

The test would consist of a series of multiple-choice questions, true/false questions, short answer questions, and identification questions.

There would be a break in between (length to be discussed)

There would be an Essay and on it would be three things on it.

1) How would you govern?

2) Why should the people vote for you?

3) What can you do to make the United States of America a better country?

The Essay itself would be at least three pages long and at the most whenever the candidate feels they have fully answered the question of the Essay.

Elimination factors

While anyone who has studied for such an exam is qualified, there is no shortage of people who would be dishonest enough to take the exam and still feel qualified to hold office.

These people would be:

1) Promoters/believers of the Big Lie about the 2020 election

2) High School dropouts

3) White Supremacists or those who promote such an agenda

4) Christian Nationalists or those who promote such an agenda

5) Offenders who were never prosecuted (like Kyle Rittenhouse or George Zimmerman) or those never served real time (like Ethan Couch or Brock Turner)

6) Those under investigation (like Donald Trump)

7) Those who have been influenced by special interest groups or foreign governments.

8) Those who only serve the special interest groups and other parts of the private sectors.

9) Those who advocate violence as a form of governing (i.e., dictatorships and fascism.)

10) Those who make it harder for people to vote or prevent people from voting.

11) Those who spread disinformation.

There may be more people out there who would not be fit to hold office, but I think I have made my point so far on this part.

In the end

What I am merely promoting with this article is a concept that can hopefully help make the United States of America a better country to live in.

It's not just stupid people I want to keep from holding office. It's "people" like Donald Trump, George McCarthy, Ronald Reagan, Mitch McConnell and other failed politicians that need to be prevented from holding office. None of these people made any useful contributions to the country and have brought nothing but shame to the United States of America.

Even if my idea in this article never becomes a reality, the point I wanted to make is that we as nation deserve people in power who care more for what's best for the country and its people, rather than the pursuit of power and selfish gain.

"He who exercises government by means of his virtue may be compared to the north polar star, which keeps its place and all the stars turn towards it." -K'ung Fu-Tzu (aka Confucius).

This is a good idea. It would weed out those who don't care about governing. And no corrupt pol could say they did not understand the rule of law.
