Blinding Censorship

A rant of observations

Blind censorship is the death of an educated writer and an educated reader. Life is filled with one tribulation after another and the raw experience will often be censored; instead of discussed. Bandaids over bullet wounds are not beneficial to anyone but the aggressor while the victim ends up feeling gagged. The blind censorship subconsciously tells the aggressor “as long as no one sees” and lets the community sit on their Sanzaru thrones; like Mizaru, Iwazaru and Kikazaru rolled into one person per person.

Blind censorship is the encouragement of a one sided story that doesn’t let the listener decide where they stand opposed to needing to be told what the story is. Blind censorship is the Yin without Yang or the Yang without Yin. It is a plague to original thought, research, mental development and genuine societal discussion. Lack of education and cultural exposure increases the blindness to the necessity of conversation. Ignorance can be outnumbered little by little.

Blind censorship can also be brewed by lack of research and closed mindedness. Blind censorship can be rooted of fear to approach raw topics. I’m a fan of obnoxious censorship or intentional malicious content. I’m a fan of censorship people who want to spread hatred or violence opposed to awareness; but that all depends on the speaker’s intentions.

Why do we censor expression? It can be due to fear of misconstrued readers based on ignorance. It can be based on the concept of spotlighting a scary topic like an educated racial experience or addressing rape culture; even utilizing the sexuality of women to be promotional material. Censorship is based on what does society deem as acceptable much like how laws are influenced. Some may disagree but there are strange laws in different states like Oklahoma’s law against eavesdropping (Penalty for Eavesdropping. OSCN. (0AD). https://www.oscn.net/applications/oscn/DeliverDocument.asp?CiteID=69660). What happens to society when the conversation is over-censored and it stops the conversation? Will that leave us to live in a pseudo utopian society that fears the truth?

The dirty part about the truth are the open wounds, the blood, the sweat, the tears, the Lazarus “New Colossus” belting from our souls but in all that debris we are left to properly heal the filthy wound with comprehension, societal maturity and education. Truth scares some the same way hydrogen peroxide causes fear in kids squinting before it is poured. This is not meant to be a one time solution of healing but an ongoing conversation of hurting and healing; it is Themis at her best. However, blinding censorship to the conversation keeps the scales unbalanced and keeps a global society on a slant.

The truth can be resplendent and vivacious. When the wounds heal and the scar appears, it does not mean art can not be made of it. Flowers grow in place of dead trees. Mother Nature will over take a building in its vines like a slow moving Pamela Isley. Truth is planted the same way. Yes, I admit the truth being told can be difficult dance between an unbaked harsh statement to a diplomatic tango; but that doesn’t mean we should not try.

Blinding censorship can be the death to growth. Correct those in the wrong to learn and broaden their horizons so we can grow together as a universal society. Engage in an educational standpoint. Hear the argument and try to understand then negotiate. There is so much to value in this world and discuss and grow; but if we don’t start the conversation; then how can we expect to grow as a society?
