Long before he stood in front of the elite panel of sharks on ABC’s widely popular reality show Shark Tank, Danh Tran had a dream of starting his own business but little means to do so. Originally born in Vietnam, Danh came to America with the dream of being a fashion designer. After stints with notable brands including Mattel, Union Bay and Affliction Clothing adding up to more than 20 years in the fashion industry, he was ready to set out on his own path - Buttercloth. He sold his home, quit his job and even cashed in his 401k to begin his journey into creating “the world’s most comfortable shirt.”

Perhaps none of this would have even been possible had it not been for the 2017 book from New York Times Best Selling Author Steve Harvey. His self-penned release explores the relationship between faith and imagination to achieve dreams and lead a more enriched life.

As a tribute to the man behind the inspiration, Danh has created a custom, one-of-a-kind Buttercloth shirt with the book printed onto the fabric in a unique pattern. In a recently released video - Danh speaks to his experience with the book and his hopes to gift the meaningful shirt to Steve Harvey himself. It’s a touching look at how inspiration can be found anywhere at any time. Sometimes all we need is a little push.

“After I read it,” Danh shares in the video, “I just walked in my boss’s office and I gave my two-week notice and said that I’m going to start my own company.” One of the first people to take notice was longtime NBA player and LA Lakers legend Metta World Peace.

“I remember the first time I put the shirt on,” Metta World Peace said. “I was like, ‘oh wow, this is really comfortable!’ It’s a great company. You hear the stories of Danh coming from another place, another land, and starting a whole new company with an idea. Now you see people love the shirts!”

Together Metta World Peace and Danh Tran explored uncharted territory after being noticed by the hit reality show Shark Tank. In October of 2018, the pair walked into the tank with a heavy social presence, all-star endorsement and most importantly - amazing shirts. Striking a $250,000 deal with Shark Robert Herjavec, Buttercloth was launched to new heights and introduced to millions after the episode aired.

Since the success of their Shark Tank placement, Buttercloth has continued to grow and expand with new styles including outerwear, jackets and t-shirts and innovative designs like their signature “Icy Cotton” line which was inspired by the summer heat and makes use of organic mint and long fiber cotton.

Featured on top editorial sites such as GQ, Men’s Journal and Forbes, Buttercloth has come a long way since Danh began experimenting with the idea in 2016. Though it has been years of hard work and determination, this American success story would have never gotten off the ground without the help of a great book.

Danh sent out a personal message via the video to the author. “Steve Harvey, thank you so much for writing Jump. I love the book so much and I created a special shirt for you, one-of-a-kind with your book imprinted on the shirt and I would like to give it to you in person. This is the world’s most comfortable shirt. Hopefully you like it!”

Danh isn’t the only one raving about the power of Jump. “My friend, Steve Harvey, has an amazing gift to inspire, encourage and motivate people toward their dreams,” wrote Joel Osteen. “In his new book, Jump, he’ll show you through his own experiences, how to discover your gifts, envision your dreams and take the steps to become all you were created to be. He’s impacted my life, and I know Jump will impact yours.”
