Everyone has anxiety. That is the one thing you can count on being a constant between humans. This type of worry comes in many forms: relationship anxiety, separation anxiety, any phobia, and panic disorder. It can show up in more than one way, but even the calmest of us have seen displays of these occur in our everyday lives.

Often, relationship anxiety pushes those that we care about away. If no one can see what we see, others can’t understand how we feel, and they don’t want to. Admitting to them that some anxiety present could help, but it’s going to be challenging. They can’t comprehend why you think the way you think. They don’t get why particular worries cross your mind, and you panic over something that could potentially happen next year if you make the wrong move. That is okay! That means that you’re afraid to lose something that means a lot to you. Without knowing, we all are fearful of being hurt or of making the wrong choices. Relationship anxiety is complicated, but there are ways to overcome it. No one is less than the concern that flows through them.

Anxiety is often a temporary feeling. You get some peace throughout your day, but unfortunately, it requires you to push others away. Alienating yourself frees you temporarily, but by no means is that the healthy way of working through any disorder.

Those with anxiety often experience countless worries or fears about everyday situations. These feelings tend to repeat, but in different cases and are often difficult to control. Even if someone tries to speak reason, you remain convinced that they can’t feel what you feel. The fact that your heart is running a marathon and is racing to keep up with your brain. These episodes, or panic attacks, can last several minutes and reoccur more than once a day.

The first step is acknowledging you are not alone. I understand that you feel like no one could understand the different things happening with your body at that moment. Remember that you are not the only person that goes through this. Remember that this, too, shall pass. Remember that after the period of panic is over, you will be stronger because of it.

I have a tip on a way to help overcome these feelings that have proven to help. First, you should try to make a habit of taking deep breaths in for 10 seconds and breathing out for 10 seconds. Try to slow the heart on your own, even if the worry is still weighing on your mind. Stand straight up, or lay completely flat to keeping yourself grounded. Try to empty the mind, and focus only on your breathing. The worry is still present, but it’s not as big as it once was. Keeping yourself grounded will calm you down, but it may be best to consult a doctor if your anxiety is bringing on any depression.

Try to stay in the now of it all. Most of our concerns are more future-driven. Distress about things that have not happened yet, often have control over how we feel in the present. You can’t let those worries take over your mind.

You need to rewire your mind and take control, however challenging it may be. Escape the situation, go for a walk, remove yourself from whatever sparked the attack in the first place. Listen to a podcast on regaining self-control, and rewiring your brain.
