Are you feeling like you’re constantly walking on eggshells?

Are you feeling like you’re not allowed to have opinions?

Are you feeling like you’re being gaslighted,

And your thoughts and feelings are wrong?

Are you feeling like you’re in a prison?

Are you feeling like you’re not allowed to be free?

Are you being emotionally abused,

By someone you’ve been trusting and loving?

It’s time to stop this cycle of abuse!

It’s time to take back your life!

It’s time to break the chains of control,

And stand up and fight for your right!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help,

And don’t be ashamed to speak up!

It’s time to reclaim your life,

And find the strength to stand up!

It’s time to take back the power,

And reclaim your right to be free!

It’s time to break the cycle of abuse,

And to find the courage to be free!

It’s time to rise up and be strong,

And to take back the control of your life!

It’s time to find the courage to stand up,

And to reclaim your right to be free!

Twas a sorrowful sight, to observe the despair

Left on the victim's face after emotional abuse

Fear, confusion, distress all there for to see

Early signs of a toxic relationship so easily

Attempts made by their partner to control their life

Guilt and shame stirring in during strife

Painful words meant to harm and demean

How many more warning signs must they pre-empt

A need for change before it's too late

To end this cycle of emotional abuse, pervasive hate

Look deeply inside and find away out; take back your power from the cruelest of clout

Break the chains that bind you and heal the pain you've found - start again with your heart standing sound

What starts as mere manipulation,

Grows into a form of degradation

Verbal abuse comes in so many shades,

It's hard to pick up on the subtle shades.

Trust and respect start to erode,

Controlling behaviours have been unload,

Confidence levels start to plummet low,

A new fog pervasive - nowhere to go.

Are you experiencing emotional abuse?

Your doubts and fears, you must face;

A subtle sign of toxic relations,

To touch the depths of a hidden state.

Look for the clues of your distress,

In the words or actions of another;

Hidden in plain sight, yet still unseen,

It’s an emotion that must be uncovered.

Negativity is the first sign,

A gloominess that won’t let go;

A barrage of words that bring you down,

Forever crushing your hopes and dreams.

Jealousy and possessiveness,

Bringing you to your knees;

Stripping away your independence,

As you suffer silently in misery.

Anxiety and fear,

A deep feeling of despair;

An invisible force of manipulation,

That you no longer wish to bear.

Insults, humiliation, and isolation,

The key signs of emotional abuse;

An experience no one should live through,

And no one should have to excuse.

Ridicule and mockery,

Causing you to feel small;

A lack of respect and empathy,

Taking away your self-esteem and all.

The silent treatment and gaslighting,

A power play that’s hard to control;

A constant battle of the mind,

That leaves you feeling lost and alone.

Remember that you are valuable,

And worthy of respect and love;

Be strong and resilient,

And break away from this life you’ve been dealt.

Reclaim your power,

And take back control;

Accept nothing less than what you deserve,

And never, ever settle for a role.

Trust your gut,

And never doubt your feelings;

Don’t ever let anyone tell you,

You are not worthy of healing.

If you think you’re in an abusive situation,

Act on it and get out fast;

You don’t have to stay,

Your future is yours to last.
