Mental and Emotional Health Check-In

The purpose for this post is very simple. I wanted to make a post to just check in with all of my readers. I want to know how you are doing with your mental health as well as your emotional health. More importantly than that, though, I want you to check in with yourself. Give yourself an honest and unfiltered evaluation of how you are doing. A little stress is okay. Stress is part of life and having the small stresses and anxiety in your life is actually very normal.

Now, having said that, I am sure that there are a lot of you that are probably dealing with much larger stress and perhaps even some tragedy. The world, and more specifically the people living in it, have gone a little soft and tend to turn toward being the victim as of late. Most don’t realize that the truly large and tragic problems still exist and the little things should never be labeled as being on the same level as these things. If you are going through something truly tragic and hard, please know that you are not alone. So, without playing the victim, search yourself and see if you are actually okay mentally as well as emotionally.

Active Evaluation of Mental Health

The truth is, a lot of times you will go through your day-to-day life and just assume you are doing fine with your mental health. You will subconsciously convince yourself that the worries and the stress aren’t getting to you. Until one day you realize that it’s all okay… until it’s not. Mental health is not like your physical health. There aren’t always obvious warning signs that something is wrong. You may be breaking slowly and not even realize it.

The slow or even rapid break down of your mental health is avoidable though. It is always a good idea to take an active role in this. Check in with yourself and try to give yourself an honest overview of how your mental health is doing. Never just assume that you are fine. On the other side of that, though, never assume that just because you are a little stressed or experiencing the normal aspects of life or “adulting” that you are on the verge of a mental breakdown or any way the victim or entitled to special treatment. There is a line of reality and truth that we all much walk. Find your place on that line and walk it proudly.

Active Evaluation of Emotional Health

All of the same factors can be said about your most forgotten about health as well. That, of course, being your emotional health. In recent times the phrase, “in your feelings” has been used more times than we can even count. The saying has become something that certain types of people use to describe having strong emotions toward something. Honestly, this aspect of human behavior and living never needed to be re-defined or given another name. It is human nature to feel things intensely. That’s just a part of being human.

The important part is to stop and give yourself time to actively evaluate how you are doing emotionally. Being too soft and feeling that you are entitled to something special or that the world owes you something, just because your emotions are challenged, is a great way to fully destroy your emotional health. After all, that’s simply not how the world works. That’s not how life works. However; checking in with yourself and taking notice of the heavy and harmful things in your life that endanger your emotional health… those are worth working on. Any aspect of your emotional health that is in danger, is something that only you can fix. Never look to the outside world to fix your emotional health. Overall, don’t worry… you’ll be fine. You were created to be great. Go be great.
