According to the dictionary, full of mental distress or uneasiness because of fear of danger or misfortune; greatly worried. That's anxiety.

An uncomfortable feeling of nervousness or worry about something that is happening or might happen in the future" (Cambridge dictionary.org)

According to the American Psychiatric Association, "Anxiety is not the same as fear, which is a response to a real or perceived immediate threat, whereas…anxiety is the expectation of a future threat."

So let me tell you a short story to your understand better how anxiety works.

Lipza was a normal girl studying for a test. She works, study, have friends and family, and so many other's things, like most people. Although she was too much stressed out about the test, she was going to take it. Her anxious thoughts start to playing in her head while studying. Consequently, disturbing her concentration to learn and enjoy the present moment of life. When she didn't notice that she didn't even have taken the test, she was already anticipating the test result. Dragging her to believe that she would lose. that all situations create a circuitry of anxiety in her brain, causing a lot of distress in her life.

Basically, that's the feeling of being anxious, the anticipation of fear over a future that didn't even happen yet.

Like Lipza, we all experience anxiety at some point in life. Maybe before taking a test, moving out of the city, meeting new people, whatever the situation, everyone in life already experienced anxiety. But in some people, anxiety has a more serious problem, which becomes a disease. So when you have a hard time understanding people who has this sort of problem, try to remember the times you were anxious about something in your life. That strange feeling, creating stress in your mind and body.

In this modern world, it is easy to become an anxious person. Where we are used to having everything, click, from buying something on the market to talking with another person on the other side of the world. The current world is demanding so much from the current generation in a short period of time.

Consequently, we are creating a generation with difficulty to deal with the process of life, leading to so-called anxiety.

When, in fact, life processes are essential for growing as a human, and everyone has to go through then.

So, going back to Lipza's story. She realizes that she was putting so much stress over her test, which made her not even learn properly, so she stopped and decided to study and do her best.

So, when you feel anxious again, just take your thoughts to the present moment, and try to do your best because your future is happening right now. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, your future is your present happening.

Take a deep breath. You will be more than fine.
