A Space For The Spiritual

It's taken me a while to figure out my purpose on this planet. I've gone through many incarnations when it comes to my career - translator, teacher, baker - each one feeling like I'm playing dress-up, or a starring role in a particularly bad comedy where this one girl just can't catch a break or find her way in life. A very, very bad comedy.

I was ready for a script change, and it only took me a decade or so to get exactly that (there were a lot of edits along the way). As I began approaching the big 3-0, ever so slowly the career clouds began to part, and I began to see the path that felt like the way home more clearly. The 12 months leading up to my birthday were a period of intense restlessness and yearning to make changes, especially in my work life, and to find a role that would fulfil me and bring meaning to my life, as cliché as that sounds.

I've always been a spiritual person, and one for whom communication and creativity play huge roles in the expression of my personality and talents. As I started to step deeper into my spiritual practice, and embrace the side of me that I'd hitherto kept under wraps for fear of being labelled 'weird', I realised that I had a voice that could help others. A voice that could help people break through the gleaming facades of 'gurus' or 'spiritual masters', and help them to connect to their innate spirituality and guiding light within them.

My membership space would be a collaborative space where myself, creators, and its members, could contribute to resources that help people connect with their inner voice, their soul, and the power of the universe around them. For a monthly fee, members will not only be able to make use of the variety of media and resources on the site, but they will also be able to upload their own content, and thus have their voice heard amongst community members. These resources will include:

- Guided meditations

- Yoga classes

- Mindfulness techniques

- Crystal guides and consultations - helping you to connect with the perfect stone to enhance your spiritual practice

The idea is to create a holistic space that gives its members access to creators and resources that can help them to develop their spirituality in a way that best suits them; if they want to focus on their relationship with their body, there will be yoga and healthy recipes, and if they want to focus on their mind, they can meditate and also be connected to mindfulness practitioners. Rather than being a prescriptive form of living more spiritually, with a list of do's and don'ts from gurus, this space will be a deep pool that members can dip into whenever, and for whatever, they see fit.

In order to make membership as accessible as possible, base-level prices will be low, but will still allow members to access all resources on the site. As prices move up a level, members will then be able to be connected to a database of Reiki practitioners, therapists, nutritionists, and mental health advisors, who can provide specialised support if needed. The top level of membership will essentially allow members to become partners of the site, co-founders if you will, who can help with the growth strategy of the business, and make connections with more professionals as the site increases in traffic. I truly wish for it to be a collaborative creation.

The resources will take the form of various types of media on the site, so there will be something for everyone. There will be informative articles, YouTube videos, downloadable PDF crystal guides, along with links to our social media, so that we can grow a community of spiritually conscious beings. Members can submit content of any form, making for a democratically diverse site that invites everyone to express their inner wisdom to the world. There will also be forums where members are able to chat, ask each other questions, and share their spiritual experience, increasing the sense of community on the site.

As well as access to these forms of media, the space will contain links to recommended spiritual development courses, crystal sellers, yoga classes, and a whole host of additional avenues that members can go down to deepen their spiritual practice. I want the site to not only be a hub of beautiful creators, and a wonderful community, but also a centre of information for all things spiritual. It can be easy to get lost amongst the thousands of spiritual people and pages on social media, so making spirituality more accessible is a major goal of this space.

Whilst writing this piece, I can envision this yet-to-be-named space so incredibly clearly. Having taken the first steps on my spiritually creative journey with my dedicated Instagram account, I know that there is a plethora of people who would bask in the joyfulness and creativity of such a community, and who would also relish the chance to become creators themselves. I feel that I have a chance to really bring souls together and, now that I've found my path, to help others do the same. I want to create a beautiful, bright space of light, introspection, and growth, and I would love to look back on this piece one day and see this as the beginning of that dream becoming a reality.
