A Plurality Of The Mind

A Haiku

Author's note: I was challenged by one of my partners to write a haiku based on my dissociative identity disorder, more precisely provide a summarized description of my alters, or multiple personalities, and how we interact together.

While I have taken the time to know the six closest ones to me, and they have also appeared to do the same homework, this exercise made me (us?) realize it is at times much harder than anticipated to describe one of those entities in only a few words.

Some other entities are not entirely brought up, as I do not know enough about them to justify me writing on them. Some of those are also unwanted by our system.

In order of appearance are: myself, Dart, Lex, Sophia, Ryan, enix, Rubiss. We are as diverse as we can be, of various genders and identities. We each have different skills, different strenghts and weaknesses.

Together we're one

Even if we are many

One unique being

We're all of seven

And one community brain

We appear normal

Some say we're crazy

Some say we are the sages

We're a clusterfuck

We do not know what

Description to give our host

A wandering soul

A broken spirit

A shattered being or a

Resilient one

The protector is

Where everything began

Many moons ago

Always standing guard

Making sure we all are safe

Letting no harm come

Almighty seer

Who sees it all from their spire

Was also at the start

Living in the woods

Destined to a peaceful life

Among nature

The child was preserved

The innocence of the host

Will forever last

Frozen into time

Will unchangingly prevail

Nine until she dies

The unhinged being

A product of violence

Promised to fight back

Pure fury, declines

to stand idle in the face

Of fucking injustice

The geek, recluse one

Living the digital life

Fearlessly lonely

Does not care about

What's going on in the world

Today, yesterday

Promiscuous one

Who won't stop at anything

To have some good times

Effervescent nymph

Who never declines a meal

And great company

Others do exist

Those who refuse to join us

Inside our system

There are some others

We deny from joining us

The risk is too high

They all gravitate

They do abruptly appear

They are like the wind

How can we survive

And rule the mind when we can't

Prevent intrusion

Seven sides of me

Although only one truly

Is the real me

I often wonder

What will happen to us next

And who am I now

Author's rant: I find it unbelievably ridiculous that Vocal has a word count minimum set at 600. It makes it much harder when trying to write some poetry, especially considering haikus are more often than not short pieces of art. I feel I have to fill in the blanks like I am doing right now and sadly include a rant.

This said, I also really hate the editor Vocal provides to write and publish texts. The editor provided is extremely basic in nature. While the commonly used features (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, blockquote, heading, links, ordered/unordered lists) are available, this limitation also has a perverted effect on my creativity, greatly limiting it.
