Yes, wine. One of the greatest drinks to binge on and eat with a variety of foods. From sparkling to red and white, you can easily enjoy and have a great time with friends, or even by yourself — like me. After a glass or two, or actually four, the giggles start coming in and your face is flushed like the color of the rich, deep red merlot in your glass. But did you know that there are a few wines labeled as healthiest wines to drink?

Wine comes in all sorts of types. From sweet wine brands to dry, there's a large variety. You've got the classics such as Pinot Noir, Syrah (or Shiraz), Barbera, Moscato, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and more. Or if you're a basic wine lover, like me, or a beginner, you'd tell the bartender or liquor store professional either red, white, or rosé, since the names of these wines are a struggle to remember.

Aside from the different types of wines, there's tons of delectable foods to choose from to match with your wines. Pairing with red wine, people usually enjoy eating a good steak or juicy chicken, cheeses, and even prefer pastas like fettuccine, spaghetti, and ravioli. With white wine, there's an array of foods as well. We've got sushi, seafood, and even sweets like chocolate or a pastry. As for sparkling, the options are similar to white wine. And I can assure you that you will enjoy a meal if dining with a glass of wine. The combinations are too mouthwatering and certainly flavorful that you might just have another glass or two afterwards.

As much as most of us love wine, some of them are actually not the best for us. Many wines have tons of sugar in them, which our body shouldn't ingest too much of. There are definitely wide selections of healthiest wines to drink, with the lowest calorie white wine and even the best red wine for your health. As a wine lover myself, I'm here to tell you what the healthiest wines for weight loss are. And, of course, choose the wines that are still pleasurable with rich flavor.

Cava

Cava is a sparkling wine and is one of the healthiest wines to drink out there. The Spanish-based wine is known to have way less calories than most wine. Each glass would be approximately 77 calories — so, it won't hurt to have more than one glass.

Dry Riesling

Dry Riesling has got to be my all-time favorite types of wine and is seen to be one of the healthiest wines to drink. Dry Riesling is known as one of the lowest calorie white wines. Despite the fact that its taste is distinctly delicious, it also has low calories that won't cause weight gain. However, even though the grapes may seem to be low in calories, there can be sugar in them. Be sure to check the back of the bottle before purchasing a great bottle of dry riesling.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is seen as the best red wine for your health and one of the healthiest wines to drink, because of how low in calories it is. Just for one serving, the healthiest Pinot Noir goes 120 calories. That's great for red wine, and that's definitely great for you. Pinot Noir won't ruin your diet, all while downing glass by glass without feeling guilty — only happiness.

Crémant

Another great sparkling wine is Crémant. This rich and tasty type wine is perfect for celebrating with family or friends. And once again, celebrating by yourself, because why not? Each glass of Crémant is roughly 87 calories, so you can celebrate all night, glass by glass. So, pop one of these bad boys and drink away without being worrying about gaining weight from it, because it's also one of the healthiest wines to drink.

Muscadet

Here's another one of the healthiest wines to drink and it's also a great weight-loss wine. Many people love enjoying the white wine Muscadet because of its amazing taste. And now there's something else to love about it — how low in calories it is. One glass of Muscadet is just 120 calories. I might even have to test this one out, one glass at a time.

Merlot

Merlot. One of the healthiest wines to drink, as well as one of the most classic red wines out there, merlot will never let you down. As for this great tasting wine, each glass you drink will only cost you 122 calories. All those glasses of merlot that you've been drinking won't necessarily affect your weight. So, keep drinking!

Barbera

Barbera is seen to be one of the best sweet red wines for your health. It's sweet in flavor, but definitely low in calories. You basically get the best of both worlds — no complaints. One serving of Italy's classic is about 125 calories. That being said, if you mostly enjoy drinking sweeter wine brands and still want to lose the weight, Barbera is seen as one of the healthiest wines to drink!

Picpoul

Originated in France, Picpoul is an underrated white wine that should be asked for more. Almost no one entirely knows how great of a white wine Picpoul is. This crisp flavored wine goes for 120 calories a serving. If you have the chance and want to try a new white wine, go for this one.

Gamay

Ever heard of Gamay? The amazing tasting red wine that aides weight loss and is also one of the healthiest wines to drink? Well, this red wine can be enjoyed for more than a glass, since each glass is about 120 calories. For a night out with the girls, or wanting to sip on a good glass of red wine while reading great literature, choose Gamay for a healthier option.

Müller-Thurgau

As another rich sweet white wine, Müller-Thurgau can help with your diet if you're craving a sweet drink, since it's one of the healthiest wines to drink. Even though there are white wines that contain a lot of sugar, this one in particular is actually very low in calories. A glass of Müller-Thurgau is just 114 calories. Rather than drinking the types of white wine that are loaded with calories and sugar, pick this type to balance out your health.

Now that you know which wines are best for you — all on the list of healthiest wines to drink — pick any of these wines to help with your weight, or just to keep yourself feeling clean and healthy.
