The 2023 Vienna New Year Concert began when the joyful music of "Who to Dance With" was played. The Golden Hall, filled with the audience dressed in festive costumes, filled with solemn and warm atmosphere. At the end of the piece, the famous conductor Franz Wilser-Most turned to greet him with a smile, and the audience immediately applauded warmly.

It was followed by the majestic "Heroic Poems" waltz, in which the majestic trumpets accompanied the drums, and the violins played melodious melodies, which seemed to tell a long story. The Vienna Philharmonic players perfected the heroic ode with smooth twists and graceful chords. The music takes people to the scene where it was first performed in 1860. This is Joseph Strauss work 87, also for the completion of the Heroes Square in Vienna created waltz.

Also performed in the first half were two works by Johann Strauss (Little Johann), namely "Gypsy Baron" and "Hurry Over" Fast Polka. The former is full of Austro-Hungarian exotic operetta tunes, lively and beautiful. Little John is known as the king of waltzes, "The Blue Danube", "The Story of the Vienna Forest", "The Emperor's Waltzes", "The Sound of Spring" and other classics. The polka is a Czech folk dance that originated in Bohemia in the mid-19th century and later became popular throughout Europe. Its music is characterized by fast, lively rhythms.

When I first came to the Golden Hall more than 10 years ago, I was immediately struck by the splendour. It is different from the majesty of the national Opera palace, but has its own unique aesthetic. In this hall designed by neoclassical architect Theoffel Henson, the ceiling is painted by August Eisenmenl of Apollo and the Nine MUSES, the blue background color, white crystal chandeliers and the golden color of the hall contrast, giving people a strong visual impact.

The Musikverein will be hailed as one of the best concert halls in the world because of its unparalleled acoustics. Today, not only does it have the ideal spatial proportions, but even architectural elements such as the lattice paneling in the ceiling and the statue columns around it incorporate acoustic research to extend reverberation time; Cavities under the wooden floor of the stage enhance the resonance of the sound, as does the ceiling hanging from the roof truss. All of this makes me sit in the right seat of the 13th row of the hall to listen to the performance, the sound quality is still clear, really amazing experience.

If the first half of the performance was enthusiastic, the second half fully displayed the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's superb playing skills, but also tested the conductor Most's eye for music selection.

Mostert, a leading Austrian conductor, is music director of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and this was his third New Year's Eve concert. He said at the press conference that he spent nearly a year selecting works from the Strauss family library and discovered the little-known "treasure." One of the surprises of this year's concert was the staging of a newly discovered piece by Joseph Strauss for an audience of hundreds of millions. Joseph Strauss is Little John's brother. Old John hoped Joseph would become an officer in the Habsburg Royal Army, but instead he became an engineer, designing a machine for cleaning streets for the city of Vienna. However, musical talent was innate in the family, and by chance Joseph replaced his over-busy brother as conductor and eventually became the conductor of the court ball. He also wrote more than 300 piano pieces and dance music, and polka and quadrantile dances were also popular.

The second half of the performance was undoubtedly a success, as Joseph's work won the audience's enthusiastic applause for countless times. Such as "Pearl of love" waltz, sometimes soothing and sometimes high; "The Goldfinch" waltz twists and turns; The most wonderful is to cooperate with the Vienna children's choir "Happy Courage" France Polka, 46 boys and girls of the sound of heaven to win the applause of the audience, even the conductor has been watching the children completely leave before facing the audience to thank again.

This is not the end. The climax is coming.

At the deafening applause of the whole audience, conductor Most grand return, the author is also in high spirits, ready for the final baptism of music. The first was the lively Polka of "The Robber", smiling on stage and off.

When the Blue Danube horn played, the audience's applause reached a new climax, even the music was interrupted. Mostert, the conductor, turned around and shouted "Happy New Year" with a smile, while all the performers also shouted "Happy New Year." The audience responded with laughter and more applause.

Familiar melody lingers in the Golden Hall, everyone is intoxicated, happiness written on the face. At that moment, the music tradition seemed to penetrate the invisible sound waves, embodied in poetry and painting, deeply engraved in everyone's heart. Impeccable interpretation, as if with heaven and earth natural blend.

It is well known that the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra have always had a relationship. The two are among the best in the world, so it's hard to tell them apart. The Vienna Philharmonic, however, has a longer history.

In 1812, Handel's oratorio Alexandre's Feast was very popular at the Spanish Riding School in the Hofburg Palace. Soon after, under the auspices of Emperor Franz I, the Vienna Society of Friends of Music was established. The society founded the Vienna Conservatory of Music in 1817 and the Vienna Men's Choral Society in 1858. According to research, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1842, led by Otto - Nicolai, the chief conductor of the Vienna Court Opera, is the world's oldest "philharmonic orchestra". The Musikverein later became its permanent home.

The Vienna Philharmonic is the only orchestra in the world without its own permanent conductor. Yet the world's most famous conductors look forward to and are proud to work with the Vienna Philharmonic. Some experts say that the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is very balanced, and the strings are especially outstanding, its timbre is thick and gentle, both crystal and dexterous.

The 2023 Vienna New Year's Concert ended with a rousing "Radetzky" march and sustained applause. The New Year's greetings conveyed by the concert were also broadcast on television and the Internet in nearly 100 countries and regions. The aim of the Vienna New Year's Concert is to spread love and joy around the world, as the president of the Vienna Philharmonic Daniel said.
