JK Rowling Is No Longer Welcome In My House
Like many other people, I have been a huge fan of J.K. Rowling since I first picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Once I read and collected all the books of that series, I began reading Rowling’s other books.
Feel Better, Thanks to Season Two
Season one of Channel 4 and Netflix’s coproduction Feel Good did not make me want to watch a second season. But it wasn't all bad. Mae Martin’s charisma as her auto-fictional character Mae was undeniable. As was their chemistry with the label-less, but often referred to as “straight”, closeted George (Charlotte Ritchie). The first season of the show painted their dynamic as a queer approach at a thirty-minute comedy about the growing pains of a relationship between two people in their late twenties/early thirties.

I’m just 1 person who doesn’t usually watch a lot of documentaries. Unlike my sister, I prefer fiction to nonfiction when it comes to movies, shows, and books. But I recently watched some short, quality LGBTQ+ documentaries I wanted to recommend you check out during Pride month. The best part is that all three of these are amazing. But the second best thing is that they are all free and available on YouTube. Watch and share them with others!
Kate McDevittPublished 3 years ago in PrideA New Age in Children's TV
TV shows are taking modern culture by storm. As a child, I remember waking up early, turning on the TV, and watching whatever Dish TV was playing on Cartoon Network that morning. Usually, that meant Dora the Explorer or Spongebob Squarepants before my mom drove me and my brothers to school. To be fair, I am currently 20 years old, and may not have some of the same early television experiences as my fellow Creators.
Ten LGBT+ Audio Book Recommendations
Audiobooks have been game-changers for my reading life the past three years. I went from reading bed-death - zero books a year, to a modest (but healthy) one a month. I occasionally try skimming through a novel, but most of my reading at the moment is done through Audible.

Possibly the most exciting time of the year for queer folks is here: Pride Month! All around the globe, the challenge to put on the most wondrous celebration is on. Especially since last year’s festivities were (rudely, but reasonably) interrupted by COVID restrictions. Well, 2021 is seeing brighter rainbows as COVID cases are going down, vaccinations are ongoing, and many states are fixing to open up soon, while others are up and running like normal.

I don’t want to admit how many hours I lost to researching tunes and bands for this article. There’s a lot of stuff out there to sort through, even if you restrict yourself to artists you know and ones that have some element of queerness attached to them. But it was fun going back and listening to all this amazing stuff and realizing a lot of these back catalogues, side-projects, or even new albums I had no idea existed! I felt lucky revisiting parts of my childhood, teenage years, twenty-somethings, adulthood, and post-adulthood where I realize that it will never be possible for me to be what the past generation thought an adult should be.

EXPLICIT LYRICS WARNING In the summer of 2000, I was living with my first girlfriend in the small city of Richmond IN. I had just graduated from Earlham College, where we met, a Quaker liberal arts school of 1000 students that was both a place of limitations and, full of possibility. As a school, we prided ourselves on being an open minded and welcoming community, but like everywhere, prejudice finds its way in and establishes a foothold. I had spent my sophomore year writing an editorial column on race relations for the school paper. By my senior year I had been the leader or coleader of almost every student group that represented marginalized communities- BLAC, the Multicultural Alliance, Women of Color and the Womyn's Center. The only group that I belonged to and did not lead at some point was Rainbow Tribe. I had not gotten my footing there and was still discovering what loving women meant to me. I had not fully found my voice but music gave me the words.

Millennials were exposed to arguably some of the best LGBTQ positive music of all time but that's just my opinion. I'm thrilled to see most artists today are allies and are wildly supportive of the community. It is a welcome change! We have a special appreciation for all these artists and genres that are paving the way into the future and especially the artists that came before our generation. As a Millennial, I want to share my experience with the top 10 Pride playlist for the 25-39 year age range. Happy Pride Month!
Melodies for Future Allies
The LGBTQIA+ community is a fantastic group of people that, together, strive to make the world a more inclusive, loving place for anyone and everyone. Although I come from quite a conservative background, there have been times that my ingrained dogmas were uncovered, and quickly I became aware of the differences between a narrow-minded ideology and acceptance. It was a ground-breaking moment in my life, and I am proud to be an ally of the community. My partner identifies as queer and, through her liberal outlook on life and love, I have been allowed to express myself in ways that make me happy. I dress how I like, talk how I want, walk the path I choose and love the people that love me back. On multiple occasions, I have been so happy that I have been questioned about being gay, or at least somewhere on the spectrum. I always reply with the same answer:
