What is Turmeric?

Turmeric also known as Curcuma longa is a flowering plant whose roots are used in health supplements around the globe. Notably in India where its called Haldi and has a historical use as an antiseptic when rubbed on wounds. It is also the main ingredient in much South Asian food.
