Your words have power.
You know this.
Instinctual from that young age when names and nicknames were both the same, when rhymes were crimes that carved scars in your heart and the salt of your tears blazed trails for fears that still haunt to this day at the sound of a name.
Your words have power.
You know this.
A single moment, encounter, stranger or friend, mood can change on the turn of a dime, a chance of time, encourage or tear down? Smile or frown? Do we ever know the true cost of thoughtless release? The clues are written in our own scar’s design.
Your words have power.
You know this.
We say but we forget. Words written in treaty, of peace, of love, equality, compassion. Ideals to live by. Yet forgotten because we do not speak them enough. To ourselves. To our children. To each other. Start with one, anyone. Speak. Give those words power.
Our words have power.
We’ve forgotten this.
In speaking, remember. We build ourselves, each other, syllable by syllable, sound by sound, language conveying thought, meant or not, yet always sought, our words the tapestry we leave, that indelible impression of self, written on the souls of those surrounding us.
Our words
Have Power.
In this time, with these lines, when so many seek our silence, remember, the strength of kindness. Your voice is yours, don't let anyone take it, but use it with care. Use it to build, to repair. Be remembered for wise words and compassionate actions.
Your words
Have Power.
Your actions
Have More.
