Your Native Shore

A poem

Dear Edgar,

By Vladimir Fedotov on Unsplash

Through roaring seas, I call you home,

Along the shore, I seek your light.

Weary and worried, still you roam.

Your face and hair gleam through the night.

The Promised land is burning bright.

The agate lamp within my hand,

“Come join me”

“Where?”

The holy land.

Gently o’er a perfumed sea,

Your native shore shines gloriously.

Over the forest,

Past the Tor,

Eternity

Is evermore.

Your soul completes the great return

After you pass the sun, my dear,

Glory and grandeur, you will learn.

Another sea awaits you here.

With Naiad voices ringing near.

Over that forest,

Past the Tor.

Each must go,

Each must rest,

Upon that beach

Where ships remain out of reach

Westward in the lee

Of that silent, silver sea.

Gently o’er a perfumed sea,

Your native shore shines gloriously.

Oh my. This was rhythmic and almost classical. That's the only way I can describe and even that doesn't do the poem justice. Well done and congratulations on your Top Story!
