Your Big Words Do Not Impress Me

______________
Do you think I'm impressed?
Multi-syllabic is your speech,
A lecture for the years.
__
You rant. You rave.
To the crowds that gather,
Your message is slathered -
With big words. Well, congratulations.
__
Yet all I hear is your judgements.
Your lecture is long
Your opinion is clear.
But your message is hazy -
Watered down, milky, and toxic.
__
With your biases as your venom,
You spit poison darts with precision,
Hitting your target, fueling the fire.
__
Their hearts you reach -
Only because they're as dark
And tainted as your own.
__
Your poison infiltrates their veins,
Mixing with their own venom of hatred.
Righteous and mighty, you gather.
__
A crowd of hypocrites
Marching the streets.
The blood of your children
You smear over the doorposts.
__
Like a neon sign, flashing vividly -
Your hate you wear like a badge of honor.
Righteous and mighty, you gather.
__
Hypocrites, this crowd.
Serving your pagan gods you hide
Beneath your hoods.
__
And as you march, your speech
Gains volume. Your words
Gain syllables. Your Wisdom
Loses the battle. To your ignorance.
__
So, do you still think I'm impressed?
Multi-syllabic is your speech,
A lecture for the eons.
You rant. You rave.
__
To the crowds that gather,
Your message is slathered -
With big words. Well, congratulations.
__
Yet all I hear is your ignorance.
Your lecture is long
Your opinion is clear.
But your message is haughty,
Hateful and full of venom.
__
So, no. I'm not inspired.
Your big words do not impress me.
Your speech is wasted.
Your lecture is lost.
__
Go back to your hordes of hypocrites -
You'll be welcomed there.
__
Until they find another,
And then, they'll slaughter you
The way you do your children.
__
His message is lost on you.
And your own is lost on me.
__
No. Your big words do not impress me.
For in your vanity,
You've forgotten
Wisdom, insight, and sanity.

Awesome!!! Loving it!👏💖😊💕
I love poetry with a message that can still be prose without being preachy. Well done!
Very powerful, well written poem.
Insightful and beautifully structured! Please keep in mind, though, that some of us are just autodidactic verbophiles. Words are like assorted flora in a hanging Babylonian garden of language to us. No one could ever accuse Poe, for instance, of attempting to create a cult or gather followers. He just loved to swim in an ocean of words.
Great job. So much is lost when all you hear is your own voice. Loved this
very powerful Lena! <3
Excellent and very timely. I too am very unimpressed by fancy words and rhetoric. ;)
Excellent. It captures the times we are living in.
Love this line." Go back to your hordes of hypocrites. You'll be welcome there." Well done! ❤️
Is this aimed at me :) Gret poem Lena
