You shouldn't have to worry when there's nothing to worry about.
Infidelity's only faithful to itself.
Author's Notes: This poetic rant was inspired by Jide's story titled "The Guy She Told You Not to Worry About." I advise You to please go and read Jide's story before reading this poem, as this poem is based around the context from Jide's story.
Relationships don't have to be volatile like this, they don't have to be a game.
Every person in this one all has some sort of blame.
Dammy, the boyfriend, should've let his true feelings and thoughts be known.
Instead he hid them inside and didn't let them be shown.
When he saw unacceptable behavior from Lisa and Ade, he should've made sure to draw a line in the sand.
With or without them, Dammy should've made a stand.
When it comes to Ade he should've stopped once he knew that Lisa was taken.
He should've focused on building his own relationship with some one else, instead of trying to break in
on the one that Lisa and Dammy had started to make.
Lisa was his friend, but lines that are crossed will start to break.
When it comes to Lisa, you can't just say that she was torn between the two.
Just like Dammy and Ade, Lisa has free will and agency too.
She could've used her own mind and have chosen to be persuaded.
Yet, she's at fault just like Ade, and now her relationship with Dammy is more than degraded.
If relationship problems are all about communication,
then why are so many people left in a state of consternation?

This is a different type of poem. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I love that you hold each person in the story accountable for their own actions in a way that not only makes a good deal of common sense, but that is as great a read as the original story. Nice job!
I read and loved Jide's story. And yes, I agree with you that Dammy, Ade and Lisa all have their shares of blame. Dammy realised karma is catching up with him. He should have been honest to Lisa about his past deeds and his current insecurities. Lisa should have drawn boundaries when it came to Ade. I mean why behave in a way where even everyone thought they were a couple. And despite having a boyfriend, she decides to jump in bed with Ade just because she finally saw how he felt about her. She never truly loved Dammy to begin with. It's almost as if she was using him for whatever reason. And for Ade, like you said, should have backed off no matter how painful it would be. I loved your poem!
Lack of communication can be a deal breaker. Left a heart!!!
I really enjoyed Jide's story and appreciated your responsive poetry. I felt like I had the inside scoop as I read it. It's unfortunate how often bad communication ruins relationships. Great work!
