The time has nearly come

To kiss our relationship goodbye,

Believe me the pain will be great

But I will not lay down to die.

***

You chose to destroy our love

The love that seemed so strong,

Again I proved to be a fool

And found our love was wrong.

***

I believed your lies and deceptions

I listened to you speak of dreams,

When really you used and abused

I was an end to your means.

***

I have great gain from knowing you

Our baby will continue to grow,

I'll love our little girl

Sad it's father she will never know.

***

Now our child will be the one to suffer

As you'll walk before she's born,

It is for this reason alone

That you'll have earned my scorn!

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
