You and me

At first glance you felt somehow familiar.

The first time I heard your voice I wanted more.

From simple beginnings to a purpose driven life.

Different experiences but both not free from strife.

I’ve felt seen and been observed.

Yet somehow you heard me and found a way to make me feel understood.

When we first spoke you made an assumption that was correct.

I wonder how you’d feel knowing that assumption is no longer intact.

It’s not so easy to trust, it seems like getting too close means something always goes bust.

I’ve never known anyone quite so authentic. Even on my worst days you know how to make me feel fantastic.

Written words of declaration are read over and over. If on paper the pages would be worn and ink faded.

If you were Indiana Jones it would be my heart that was raided.

When my head hits the pillow I dream of you.
