And yet,

I write?

Tell Me A Story

and keep me entertained,

you won't be sorry

as it drives you insane.

Do your best work and it'll all matter,

and as your best work changes nothing

your experience seems sadder.

You've got to be missing something.

Stories are popular, or so people say,

but stories about how to,

you see those all day.

Is that what people manage on medium?

Is it a case of those that can't do teach,

showing you promises along the way,

using pictures of people as they write from the beach?

Is it all a bunch of nonsense?

You search the how-to's and see so much advice,

write better, write this, write drunk and edit sober.

You work til your eyes are heavy, to more your brain says no,

you're exhausted, you're fed up, and your day is so over.

The words come, the story is good.

No matter what you type or do,

the results don't seem like they should.

From vocal to medium, and others you try too.

What's the question of the day for all who will try?

Should I focus on SEO,

or is it all a big lie?

The time you have spent has not changed your life,

or so it seems you say,

yet your brain and fingers function better together

each and every day.

And yet I write

because somehow it always feels right
