A lie tasted on the tongue
Burning lips
Scorching roof mouth,
As mind questions the words
Filtered through the void
Lodged in throat
A rock setting in stomach
As a back is turned
In acceptance and belief
That the other
Believes the tale weaved,
A story told
To distract and move on
A finger pointed
At mundane
Treating exquisite to change
The way the world spins
And go back to before
The uttered words
And the instant suspicion,
Water poured
Can’t be recaptured the same
No longer pristine
No longer fulfilled,
Altering the pool
It came from,
Changing the view
Changing the taste
Moving forward-
As two parts try to relearn
The dance they’ve been doing
For years
Prior to utterance of untruths
Meant to salvage
The life that existed before,
Memories now saved in a jar
Replacing the pure water
Once used to nurture the growth
Of a life lived together,
The water now spilt
Across the cords,
The dirty floor,
The unfinished painting
Of a life loved.

'a life loved'? The pool is tainted, maybe unloved is the word! I love your way of weaving feelings with simple words. You will make a superb newspaper publisher! Your kind is needed.
