Words on the Tip of my Tongue: A Sonnet
In Italian Rhyme: ABBA ABBA CDC DCD
Words on the tip of my tongue, meaning to say
Each mute point I meant to make about you, to
Savagely scratch point-blank on paper and chew
On dreams of play, seeing nothing but May:
All a Blankness and snare awaiting its prey.
Yet through blockage and blankness, I must write through
It all, to write Anything, but especially of You
Who laughed the lilacs from your hair, asked to stay
Awhile beneath the blossoms and be lazy
Procrastinating and embracing the daze
Of everything that makes the springtime hazy;
Because writer’s block is only just a phase
In a poet’s brain, seeking to go crazy
By redundant genius: leaping in your blaze.

Loving your Italian sonnet!!! Lovely form and found it inspirational. The Italian sonnet is a format that I haven't tried. Love the English Elizabethan or Shakespearean Sonnet the best.
Wow Rob, your writings fascinate me.
This is a cracking poem. The flow and rhthym was so enjoyable. I was never pulled out of the poem for one line. Well done.
Multi-faceted love and writer's block tied into a lovely poem.
R, this was so well written! I loved the rhyme scheme and the flow of the poem! I appreciated the texture of it as I whispered it to myself while reading! I liked your use of simile and personification, it was elegant and so well thought out! Great work!
This was so lovely! Such a wonderful poem!
