Before I lay my head to rest,

I wish with the deepest breath in my chest,

You’ll come visit in my dreams tonight.

It’s getting harder to remember how your voice sounds,

will you whisper in my ear when you make your rounds?

I’m make sure I’m asleep by moonlight.

There’s reminders of you in every day,

But they’re just fragments that never stay.

In my dreams though, you never took flight.

Is it hard to leave behind those heavenly stars

to meet me in my slumber with a grin & your favorite cigars?

Oh Daddy, I no longer fear the night.

That’s where the sandman holds the tether,

to pull you from the stars and bring us back together.

Where you remind me I’ll be alright.
