Wishing For More Time

The Loss of Time with my Father

In the quiet moments, grief holds its sway,

A wish echoes softly, for more time to stay.

Dad, your absence profound, leaves a void in life’s rhyme,

Wishing you had more time, just a bit more time.

Your Grandson Charlie, with eyes so bright and wide,

At thirteen months, on life's joyous ride.

Grandpa, oh how you'd cherish the laughter and play,

Wishing you had more time, to share in each day.

A grandson's giggles, a source of pure delight,

In his innocent gaze, your spirit takes flight.

Nana and Grampa, a duo so sublime,

Wishing you had more time, in this grand design.

If only time could rewind, to moments we could share,

Parenting wisdom, your counsel beyond compare.

In the quiet hours, questions linger like a chime,

Wishing you had more time, for talks about parenting's climb.

Though you've departed, your love remains near,

Whispering through memories, calming every fear.

As Charlie grows, in his adventures so grand,

You watch from above, as he leaves his footprints on this land.

How would you guide me, as I navigate fatherhood's sea?

In raising Charlie, what would your advice be?

As I watch Charlie grow, with wonder in his eyes,

I find myself questioning, am I as good in his, as you were in mine?

Yet in the echoes of memory, I find strength and grace,

Your fatherly love, time cannot erase.

From above send your whispers of wisdom to guide my way,

As I navigate fatherhood’s trials, day by day.

And so I find myself wishing again, as I come to the end of this rhyme,

Wishing you had more time father, so I could tell you I was proud to have called you mine.
