Winter Mornings

A Poem

A fire spits sparks and crackles in the stone fireplace.

Silver framed wedding photos are displayed upon the mantelpiece.

I turn to the window and watch Winter's cold breath blowing snowflakes upon the frozen ground.

Classical music plays quietly from the surround sound.

A smile forms on my lips still tingling from sultry, morning kisses.

A silent prayer is sent up in praise for second chances.

I curl on the couch with a romance novel then take a sip of hot, lavender tea.

Reflecting upon the romantic moments between you and me,

I set the unopened book aside.

There is not a story that can compare to this love that has never ebbed like the sea's tide.

I caress the gold ring slipped on my finger by you.

Confident that our blessed union will always remain untainted and true.

Nothing can separate the love shared between our hearts.

Two souls that were destined to meet before Time's start.
