Soul Recognition

When we met

I could only see his eyes

and the vines of curls

wrapped around his skull

*

But the way he looked at me

when we spoke

I knew he was

worth a chance

*

I'm a lightning storm

of confidence

and he gazes

at my skies with awe

*

Like a kid

sitting in the warmth

of his home

peering through

the window

to see

the beauty of the storm

*

He said

The way I courted him

was so romantic

that it made

him blush

*

He said I'm so sweet

and I have the prettiest eyes

he's ever seen

*

The way he gazes into my soul

makes me feel more special

than any woman

in the room

*

Even when my eyes

speak sass with

syllables unspoken

he looks at me

like I've brought

him to his knees

serenading him

a love ballad

*

When he looks at me

our souls meet

like two children

peering through

a window

waiting to see

their long lost

bestfriend
