Will I Never Get No Satisfaction?

I always want more

Will I Never Get No Satisfaction?

It seems I’m never satisfied,

no matter what I’ve got.

Though I proclaim, “I don’t need much”,

I always want a lot.

I want more time, I want more sleep,

more chocolate and more wine.

I cannot seem to make my greed

with gratitude align.

I want more food! I want more sex!

I need more money! Now!

My eyes more greedy than my guts,

I’m such a hoggish sow!

Perhaps I ought to train myself

through mindfulness and musing

to focus on the gifts I gain

instead of things I’m losing.

My pessimistic attitude

means even when I’ve plenty,

I never see my glass as full,

I only see it empty!

Such is my avarice, I fear

whatever benefaction

I’ll look that gift horse in the mouth.

Can’t get no satisfaction.
