She Never Grew Into a Swan
The fairy tales she’d grown up with were lies
There once was an ugly duckling
who didn’t grow into a swan.
Despite being told that one day she’d transform,
she remained just a homely duck all along.
That duckling became disillusioned.
She’d wanted so much to be pretty
cause that would make everyone love her, she‘d heard,
and sting all the people who’d treated her shitty.
But there’s more to life than appearance,
and the duck would grow up to embrace
that despite what pop culture and fairy tales taught her
the worth of a bird lies in more than her face.
