wild spirit

a love poem

It’s too cold

for turtle doves to

nest the hedgerows, but

wild spirit—summoned by

the Snow Moon’s pull,

knows no limits—risks

his life to ground a moose bull,

all to offer his

fierce queen:

the she-wolf—

labored, still, from birthing pups…

both drunk and grateful in

late-winter's glow

of love
