Why Just Aware? (Transgender week of awareness)

It's Transgender awareness week, so I wrote a poem about how I feel about it. "We need / To stop, / Just / Being aware. / We need / To switch, / To acceptance."

Overlapping pieces of parchment or aged paper, with unreadable lines of poem on them. The title of the poem is on top of that.

Transgender

Awareness

Week?

Why just

Aware?

~

Though

Some

May hate it,

We exist.

This Is

No secret.

We are,

Now

In The

Public eye.

~

The ones

That Aren't,

Aware Of

Our existence.

Are the

Kids,

Who’s families,

Don’t want

Them

To know.

Or,

Don’t think,

That

They need

To know.

~

This is where,

Things

Need to

Change,

~

We need

To stop,

Just

Being aware.

We need

To switch,

To acceptance.

~

If we are,

Accepted

As a whole,

For who

We are.

~

We will ‘

Be seen.

We will

Be represented.

In shows

For those

For all ages.

Showing

The world,

That we,

Are nothing

To fear.

~

Reaching those.

Of whose,

Knowledge

Of us,

Once was

Taboo.

~

Allowing,

Them to see,

Who

They might be.

And,

Letting everyone

Live.

The lives

That they

We’re meant,

To live.

As humans.
