why does the universe tease me?
I hear your name in every love song
and in the ones that break my heart
makes me think you choose not to see me
in a constant state of panic
until my words start to wreck it
I worry that you don't like me
and you don't like that I don't trust you
so you walk away justly
and I ruined another chance
for someone to grow into love with me
the deepest loves
take pain and patience
I keep trying to rush that journey
and I never notice the intensity
how do I say I'm sorry
and ask if we can start over

Final Call
She flings her arms around my neck and squeezes me like she’s never going to let me go. My head spins as her lips brush against my cheek. She must be able to feel my heart thumping in my chest. I shuffle backwards and ram my hands into my coat pockets, watching her reach down and heave the rucksack across her shoulders.
