Why Do You Stay?

That ain't love

She has misinterpreted being sexy, sultry and hot

As the attributes of a good life partner

She wants to be a bride

But she doesn’t know what wife means

She wants to be your lover

But not the mother of your children

She wants a nice house

But doesn’t know how to make a home

She thinks the expensive lingerie she drapes on her body

And the red lipstick and expensive bling she puts on

Trying to arouse your immediate passions

Is what a relationship is about

But those fancy garments

Cannot hide the sharp, hard dark edges of her soul

They cannot hide the hollowness of her heart

There is no softness, no caring, or kindness

She pushes away your hugs and affection

She only wants to see adoration in your eyes

And hear incessant compliments from your mouth

She refuses closeness and

She doesn’t want your touch

Why do you stay?
