Whispers in the Shadows
- Chasing the Elusive Light
There are always lonely days,
When the weight of the world bears down,
And the soul feels adrift,
Unmoored in a sea of doubt and frown,
There are always painful days,
When the heart aches with a hollow ache,
Wounds that refuse to heal,
Scars that threaten to overtake,
There are always lonely days,
When the echoes of laughter fade away,
And the silence becomes a deafening roar,
Drowning out the light of day,
There are always happy days,
Fleeting moments of pure delight,
A respite from the endless strife,
A glimmer of hope in the darkest night,
And then, the cycle begins anew,
The pendulum swings back and forth,
Lonely days, painful days,
A never-ending dance,
Questioning the promise of our worth,
"Who told you that?" the voice echoes,
A whisper in the depths of despair,
"Hold back your pain," it commands,
"Say nothing, and the world won't care."
But how can one heed such advice,
When the heart feels like it will burst?
The need to express, to be understood,
A primal urge, a desperate thirst,
So through the city, I wander,
Searching for a kindred soul,
A connection to ease the loneliness,
To make the pain a little less whole,
For in the ebb and flow of life,
We all seek a guiding light,
A promise of better days to come,
A chance to reclaim our inner might.
