While We’re Under Heaven

an acrostic poem

Seven seconds

Is what I count as veins of

Lightning rend the skyline, ending summer.

Earth and I—consumed,

Nuanced by our inner storms & sense of wonder—

Cannot make a sound (while all is)

Evanescent—while we’re under heaven, waiting for the thunder.
