Where is your Happy Place?

As I stood in the hordes of people, waiting patiently for it to start, my heartbeat grew louder, faster, stronger. I knew this wouldn't be a night I'd forget for a while.

As the lights dimmed, the crowds screamed and yelled and whistled as the men took to the stage under the cover of darkness. The first note of the guitar was played and I was instantly transported to heaven; my happy place. Each perfectly crafted instrument started one by one, teasing us with its sound before erupting into its full brilliance.

After an elongated instrumental introduction, the singer took hold of the microphone and its stand, opened his mouth and let the words rain down onto us. His angelic lungs breathing the sound into the air as we breathed it in like oxygen, allowing us to live - as if it was our life force. Some people were dancing and jumping and throwing their hands in the air to the beat of the drums, while others were slamming to the sound of the rhythm guitar and imitating the man playing the original in front of us.

Friends and lovers alike weren't paying attention to their companions; not while these men, these gods, captivated us from three feet above. We screamed and we sang and we cried as one, all of us weary souls united in this place, this time, this moment. Together, we could be ourselves.

Their offering to us felt like a sin - glutton. We couldn't get enough of the sweet, beautiful noise coming from the hidden lips and cloak prancing around the stage, mingling with the others and not standing still for longer than three words. The emotion in his voice translated to all of us, so we all felt as one.
