When you're 25

This is a poem to my younger self things I wish I could tell her.

You are not weird

You feel like you are

so you hide behind a mask

you've done it for so long

you forget the mask isn't you

You think there is something wrong with you

but trust me it is not true

At age 25 you'll learn the truth

nothing is wrong with you

your brain is just different

you were misdiagnosed

or not fully diagnosed your whole life

At age 25 you'll learn the truth

once you do research

it will baffle you

how something you think was so obvious

could go unnoticed

by everyone

even those closest to you

At age 25 you'll question if you are autistic

you'll seek out answers

after a lot of tests

you will get formally diagnosed with both ADHD and ASD

questions will be answered

but so many more questions you'll have

At age 25

you will cut yourself a break

because you can't find your way

with unreadable directions
