When the Knife is Pulled from the Wound
Another poem about the friend who left
I miss you as
A broken bone misses
The impact
❀
I cry for you like
The wound seeps blood
When the knife is pulled out
Screaming for freedom
But mourning the cage
❀
You needed me as
A drowning person needs
Somebody to die beside them
As a gash needs a bandage
But only until it heals
❀
You left me like
A butterfly abandoning
Its cocoon
Reaching for happiness
Not caring how it got there
❀
I break for you
The way the sun
Always rises
(I need to break for something)
❀❀❀❀❀

Such powerful imagery. I'd pick a favorite but I'm not sure how I would choose. Each hits me in its own way.
You needed me as A drowning person needs Somebody to die beside them Ooh these lines are striking a chord. Nice work.
As a gash needs a bandage but only until it heals. That line hit me so hard! Your poem was so emotional and relatable!
