When Love was easy,
we sang in the car,
Loud and off key,
High on the warm July air.
-
When Love was easy,
Time was a book we did not read.
Old was not a word we used.
To be in love was to have no end.
-
When Love was easy,
We made love like sex was new.
Like a body held more than one soul.
Like to be held, was to have life.
-
When Love was easy,
We did not hurt.
We did not care if the car ran out of gas
And we did not tire of the same old song.
-
When Love was easy,
Our body did not ache,
We did not feel our age and
We did not mind that one day we will die
-
When Love was easy,
We'd last hour upon hour
Our skin did not part
And our lust did not grow cold
-
Now love is hard
And we don't sing,
We have aged
And sex does not feel the same as it once did
-
But when Love was easy,
Not a soul did love as hard as the two of us.

This is incredibly executed. Well-done.
You’re extremely talented. It flowed so well you’d have no idea this was for a challenge with restrictions
How wonderful it would be if love was always easy and never got hard. Loved your poem!
