"What if..." Contemplation

What if girls had been held in equal regard to boys at birth and throughout history? Who did we lose during all that time? What did we gain?

What If,

What If,

What If--

What would have happened had we been born

During times when certain baby hue meant true wealth,

true strength, and a name in veins red and blue?

What If...

There had been no gender genocide?

How many girls "went missing" because boys

were better to have and to hold?

I'd like to be told of that whole.

Who...

Who did we miss?

Who didn't we ever--

And won't ever get

A chance to meet?

How Many...

How many books weren't written?

How many family trees burned?

For the sake of a name change

that was going to happen

anyway.

A name they won't learn in history

Or memory.

In imagination, I suppose.

Alexandria,

That'll be her name.

For the ones who were burned, buried.

For the protection of mankind.

What if...

Alexandria had not fallen down?

Where would she be now?

That thought stays in my mind.
