West Coast rain like a blanket wraps me 'round

there is magic in the dark ocean waves to be found

sweeping up from the beach, bringing in rain and snow

so different from little L.A.'s cold, sunny glow

there is comfort in the fog that Oil Town cannot know

driftwood and seaweed where the Pacific winds blow

and the rain soothes the soul as the clouds slowly drift in

bringing moisture that pampers your dry prairie skin

I see relief on the faces of the armies of old

hobbling along sidewalks now finally free from the cold

while the eager young rush in to gain a firm foothold

and fish and chip shops and fertile family farms

struggle to maintain their quaint small town charm

as Vancouver freeways expand to the East

weather beaten Canadians add to the beast

I awake to seagulls and coffee that welcome the day

and smile at the sun dawning over the Bay
