we were out

to find the night

By ⸘jason alan‽Published 2 years ago 1 min read

we were out to find the night

to find what the void hides

things we've known the whole time

that it's too late to come back

if there was never anything

there when you started

that's when it hits

how alone a person gets

lost in the middle of the world

with so much desire to love

and covered the walls with anger

and great escapes

never here to stay

like day and night are separated

chasing each other while they run away

forever a mystery never to be solved

said nobody ever

i'm easy just not easy-maintenance

easy to predictably spree

not quite what i mean

to be a little off the mark

and totally off the rocker

getting the point across

to strangers in the night

and i never saw my friend again

after that morning sunrise goodbyes

afternoon after we found that night
